Ginno GPS

Ginno GPS

Ginno GPS leverages WhatsApp's location service, which utilizes Foursquare Maps. When you share your location on WhatsApp, Ginno can calculate the distance from the tee (back tee) to the middle of the green in yards. Simply share your location (press the "+" on Whatsapp and then Location), while standing on the tee to find out the distance to the back tee. Add or Subtract the distance as necessary based on the tee you are playing from.

Figure 3 (left): Ginno returns the info once share location

Figure 4 (right): Location coordinates may overlap several holes. Users can pick which whole she or he is playing.

After your tee shot, share your location again by pressing the "+" button again on WhatsApp and selecting "Location." This will show the distance from the tee (indicating how far your driver or tee shot went) and the distance to the hole (the middle of the green).

Depending on the pin location, we recommend hitting more club to carry any obstacles between the fairway and the hole.

Ginno will also automatically generate a Google Earth link for you to check the distance to any point near your ball's location.

Steps to Guide You (Optional if you just need the distances):

  • Download the Google Earth App on your mobile device.
  • Click the link generated by Ginno.
  • Click the "current location" button on Google Earth.
  • Click "Measure."
  • Drag the measure starting position from your current ball position to anywhere near the green.
  • The distance should show in yards.
